Where the swell have we been? 👀
Oh, you thought we forgot to send this? Jokes on you. While you all thought you were living in 2026, we've been in fiscal year 2027 for 17 whole days now. Time is fake. Quarters are a construct.
Between surpassing 42M in ARR and officially becoming a Series C-funded bunch, it's been a massive year for TQ. 401(k) Migration Update
Our 401k migration from Guideline/Accrue to Empower is underway! We’re currently in the required blackout period while funds transfer over, which means you won’t be able to adjust investment allocations or deferral amounts just yet. The migration should be wrapped up by the first week of March. Once it’s finalized, we’ll send instructions for logging into Empower. As a reminder, your contributions and the company match are still happening as usual during the blackout. No action needed on your end.
Compass, our new plan administrator, will be hosting an educational webinar on March 10 at 9am PT to walk through the Empower platform and share retirement savings best practices. Keep an eye out for the invite!
March Review Cycle Kicks Off Today
Here’s what you can expect:
-
- Everyone who has been at Turquoise for 90 days as of March 1 will be eligible for a performance review.
- Everyone who has been in their current role for more than 90 days as of March 1 will be eligible for a merit increase with an April 1 effective date.
- You will only have up to four peer reviews to accept and complete.
- Compensation or role changes will be effective April 1st, and not as an April fools joke, we promise.
Current Diversity Metrics
Our representation stats are benchmarked against the latest data on the U.S. employed labor force, rather than the broader U.S. population or the tech industry alone. This approach sets more ambitious targets, but we’ve done so intentionally—striving for our team to reflect the diversity of the people our products ultimately serve.
Each quarter, we’ll share the following representation metrics to keep you informed of how we’re progressing on team diversity. Here’s where we stand moving into Q3.

Voices. History. Impact.
February is Black History Month
A time to honor the impact and lived experiences of Black Americans throughout history and today.
To celebrate and recognize this month, we pulled together a few resources to help you learn, listen, and support in meaningful ways--whether you dive into history, tune into a podcast, or discover Black-owned businesses.
Please explore the links below, and feel free to share other resources or experiences that resonate with you in #dept_people this month (or anytime).
ASALH About BHM - The official history of Black History Month from the organization that founded it, including its origins and meaning.
Code Switch - A long-running podcast about race, identity, history, and culture.
Buy Black - A large, searchable directory of Black-owned businesses across the U.S. to explore and support.
March is Women’s History Month
This month is a chance to reflect on the progress made, recognize the barriers that still exist, and amplify the voices and impact of women leading the way. To help you a little bit with this reflection, here are some avenues to learn, listen, and support in ways that feel meaningful to you.
Women’s History Month actually started as a local Women’s History Week in California in 1978, created to spotlight the contributions of women that were often left out of textbooks and conversations. This grassroots effort grew into a nationally recognized month in 1987. You can learn more about how it evolved at the National Women’s HIstory Museum!
Women in Tech Podcast
Conversations with women leaders across technology and innovation -covering everything from career journeys to building inclusive products and teams.
As always, if there’s a book, podcast, founder, or organization that’s inspired you, drop it in #dept_people so we can all learn together!

🎉 Our first New Hire Happy Hour!
In January, we kicked off our very first New Hire Happy Hour — and we had fun! New Turquees and TQ Buddies logged on for games, fast-paced icebreakers, and plenty of laughs. It was a great time of "Would You Rather?", Show + Tell, and all around genuine connection.
We’re making it a quarterly tradition. New hires and their buddies will always get an invite — and if you’d like to join the fun and help welcome our newest peeps, let Melinda know and she’ll add you to the guest list!

Share your candid thoughts on benefits and stipends, internal processes (e.g. performance reviews), DEIB, hiring, engagement, or truly anything else on your mind! Feedback is anonymous and is reviewed by the People team at the beginning of each quarter.
Until next quarter!
